blogging experience

I really like the idea of blogging in the English class because it was good do other things apart from staying in the classroom and just seeing the contents of the boo, but the only thing that makes me feel insecure about blogging is the fact that when you are writing in a site or web site that is yours you don't really realize of the mistakes you commit. Anyway, blogging helps me to improve my fluency in writing and think in another words despite to the ones that I've already knew it to express my ideas properly.

about using this blog in the future I think that is possible to use it but maybe like an opportunity to write my feeling in English but not always related to educational topics although I want to keep this blog to continue writing and realize about mistake, this is my big problem, because I feel than I write without any conscience of what I’m really writing with a lack of accuracy that sometimes scares me. Maybe this is because in a blog you feel freer and don't really care about mistakes.

About the strengths that I’ve discovered this semester I could think that maybe I have more vocabulary that I though that I had it. I like to use sophisticated words and now with this new experience I could use it for instance to describe a news in a more formal way.

To sum up I believe that maybe it would be good for the next semester continue using this blog but after every post, check the mistakes with the teacher and receive not only feedback from our classmates but from the teachers too.

games on the web

Today we did a lot of really good exercises and games in order to learn passive voice, phrasal verbs, causatives, reported speches among other things.

but the game that I enjoyed the most was "the wordmaster". in this game you have to guess which word is suitable por each sentence. Is fairly similar to the "hang man"n that we and my classmates played in high school.

there where quite fun and I realize that i'm very weak in phrasal verbs T_T

Berlin wall anniversary

Today I read about the Berlin wall anniversary in different newspapers: the guardian, the New York Times and the Brisbane times.

My idea was read the same "piece of news" and later describe how this newspapers according to their own points of view, see the situation but in different ways.

First of all, the guardian.co.uk saw the commemoration of the Berlin wall fall in a short and clear ways, no so narrative as the New York Times did. Because this newspapers tell us about this "party of freedom" in a very emotive way and always remembering the participation of the united states in the things that happened in 1989 in Berlin, Germany. On the other hand the Brisbane times did a well edited piece of news with a lot of emotive content too in the same way as the New York Times. According to this news there was a little detail, maybe not so little, that catch my attention and it was the fact that all the European and American news papers are “designed” in a good, fun and clear narrative way. When you read them is not like just reading a piece of news... is like read a tale of what is happening now! I thought that this situation in Chile isn't the same due to the fact that all the newspapers write about our issues in a cold and boring way. I would like to see “a guardian" for this country which is written in a close and friendly ways for the readers.

about the story:

yesterday Germany celebrated the fall of the Berlin Wall 20 years ago in 1989 and all Europe remember how the whole world saw the end of the cold war, the fall of soviet union and the reunification of Germany divided until 1989 in two blocs which represented the two main forces in the political scenario in those years ; the communist party and the capitalist one.

For this special celebration, there were prepared thousand of dominoes dividing which in those years the Berlin wall was dividing. at a certain moment this dominoes stated to fall while all people and the Germany’s chancellor, Angela Merkel, shouted the name of Mikhail Gorbachev who was on the main and the fireworks shined in the sky

There are a lot of films that I really love, but what I enjoyed the most was "eternal sunshine of the spotless mind" with Jim Carrey and kate Winslet, the story is basically refer to how despite all the problems that a couple may have , love is always stronger than oblivion

The other film that I really like is Irréversible, this is a french film directed by Gaspar Noé and starring by Monica Bellucci and Vincent Cassel. the film use the same technique as memento (in a non-linear narrative order.) and starts by the end, when Marcus (Vincent Cassel) kill the guy who raped his girlfriend, Alex, ( Monica bellucci) the bad thing is that marcus didn't kill the right guy and murdered to the friend of alex raper.

Finally my third favorite movie is The science Of Sleep with Charlotte Gainsbourg ( yes, the Serge gainsbourg daughter) and Gael Garcia Bernal. This story is tell us how difficult is for stephane (Gael Garcia) who confuse reality with dreams having a relation ship with a girl completely in love with him like Stéphanie (Charlotte Gainsbourge) ... and yes , the two main characters of the story have almost the same name

Are the school killing creativity?

today we saw a video of a conference , this conference was made by Sir Ken Robinson and he talked about how public education is killing our human creativity, not in terms of publics schools are not teaching anything ... he talked about the fact that schools and any educational system are not taking seriosly the multiple intelligences, they don't recognize the several chances that has our brain to develop not one math and languages but they let apart other "skills" as drawing and arts for example just for a "industrial way to see work"... and in this society drawing, music and other artistic expressions are not useful for working at the office.

but anyway is good to see sometimes this kind of people who goes against society normally think as good just by ways of thinking that exist since ages and which are totally obsolete nowadays, I like people who goes against which is considered as "normal" or "right"... maybe because I think that is time to turn our vision about how human nature is.

BBC channel on you tube

I've been watching the BBC's channel in you tube and it was fun. in one of the videos I watched a man call "the teacher" that guy reminds me a class that we had the last year and we saw him in order to learn more idioms, so now I watched him by my own and it is fantastic! it's so weird and teach you a lot of "informal" conversation phrases , which is good for me because I dislike those expressions which are so formal in the same way I think learn more colloquial expressions is funnier that just learn the "right things".
by the way ... I saw this videos called " the flatmates" and I found so ridiculous especially because there is a girl in the episodes who is called "Helen" who is always complaining about nothing I hope that not all the "Helen" in the world were like her ¬¬.
